The experienced staff continue to support the children with their growing independence, spending time away from you, learning they can be looked after by caring adults. In the Bee Room, we have an adult:child ratio of at least 1:8.
The children are encouraged to build relationships and communicate their needs and feelings with each other. This includes practising sharing and taking turns, sharing storybooks with adults, and exploring the world around them.
During each session children in the Bee Room have free flow, where they are able to access the outdoor area whenever they choose.
The children are all of school leaver age in the Bee Room and as they look to transition into a Reception class the staff will be supporting critical skills of listening, turn taking, independent toileting and dressing.
The Bee staff have great relationships with local schools and support teachers coming in to the setting to meet the children. Our Deputy Managers and Bee Room Leader also hold a parent workshop each year to share how to support children with their independence, concentration and other skills as they transition into school.
